Welcome to Class RY

Mrs Young, Mrs Da Silva, Mrs Mason and Miss Hewart

In class RY we aim to provide a happy, challenging learning environment where the children can work together to become enthusiastic, resilient and thoughtful students. We support the children to develop independence and take responsibility for their actions and learning. We develop the foundations on which the rest of their education will stand and we feel very proud to share such an important part of the children's educational journey.

Things to remember...... Book changes- Reading books on Monday and Friday- Library books on Wednesday..... PE Day- Thursday- PE kits need to be kept in school. Having now changed for P.E. it has become apparent that the children might need a little support to know in which order their clothes need to be put on, underwear and shoes only doesn't work!!!! ....... Our class bear is called Juanita, your child will bring her home when they have had a particularly good day, we are trying to encourage patience as we have 30 children and Juanita is just 1 bear, we are not far off her going to everyone now, when she does come home please bring her back the following day.......

I think the children may have felt a little inspired to write about our caterpillars!!!

Just a few photos showing our amazing adventures with Mr Moulton, doing our sponsored willow arch weave. The children loved the experience and they learnt some new skills. They were safety conscious and sensible and they listened carefully to the children in Year 5 and 6. Well done RY.

You know what they say, 'when life gives you lemons..... make lemonade!' Or in our case, very small snowmen!

Developing a love of books is an important part of childhood. We celebrated all things 'reading' on World Book Day. We were lucky enough to enjoy the company of Year 3 who did a lovely job of reading us some of their favourites. We then went on an adventure to the juniors where we shared an assembly with one class from each year group. RY performed our version of the 'Bear Hunt' to all of the other children and teachers! We were fantastic.

A quick reminder......... Reading books need to be returned on Monday and Friday. Please make sure you return them, we are running low on books. Blue high frequency word books must be in school daily. We will practice with the children whenever we have a spare minute.

Talk for writing

Our first talk for writing text was 'How to catch a star' by Oliver Jeffers.

The children learnt an adapted version of the story with actions and performed it for the video. Enjoy.
