Keeping Safe Online

We were lucky enough to have a lesson about online safety this week.

The children had some great ideas of their own and we learned lots too.

We have been testing our reasoning skills this week in maths. We were given the challenge to build a 3D cuboid which matched all of the 2D views we were given. It was harder than it looked, but the children worked with great resilience!

There are more photos in the gallery below.

This week we have been lucky enough to start our baseball sessions with Baseball Softball UK. See more photos in the gallery below.

Class 6S arrived into school first thing on Monday morning faced with a critical dilemma - their chairs had marched off, unhappy with their working conditions. The children were all shocked and only left with letters from the disgruntled chairs, explaining why they had gone.

It was then up to them to think of persuasive ways to get their chairs back and letters were written, full of persuasive features, to explain how much the chairs actually do mean to each and every one of the children. The outcome...look below and see:

Happy class, happy chairs!

Tasting French food

In our French lesson this week, we tried some different French foods. We practised our French speaking when asking for the foods we wanted.

SATs Breakfast Club

There were lots of smiley faces in Year 6 this morning.

After a delicious breakfast with their friends, they have worked really hard to prove what they can do.

Benchball Tournament

A good way to get rid of the stress of revision. A Year 6 benchball competition - see gallery below, for more action shots!

Challenging Maths Sessions

Some of our Year 6 pupils have been enjoying applying their knowledge into more practical problem solving challenges.

A Taste of the Mediterranean

This week was the third of our year 6 restaurants.

The children were all amazing and a real credit to FPS. Well done everyone!

Well done to everyone who dressed up for this year's World Book Day - you looked amazing!

Also, to our very own Scribbleboy characters who performed in our World Book Day assembly - you were totally ultra-mega-scribbledacious!

The Statue of Burgerty - Our first American restaurant

This week was the first of our year 6 restaurants. It was the biggest restaurant we have ever opened with 89 customers coming to dine! The children were all amazing and a real credit to FPS. Well done everyone!

See the gallery below for more photos!

DT flowers

We have been busy finishing our flowers ready for the first restaurant this week.

See the gallery below for the finished products. The children are incredibly proud of their work.

Updates this week...

Our maths problem solving lesson this week took us outside of the classroom. Our focus for this week was analysing and investigating.

Our PE topic in dance this half term is World War II.

The children considered how they would feel as evacuees.

In English this week we have been writing newspaper reports based on Scribbleboy. The children enjoyed interviewing each other as different characters.

NSPCC Speak Out. Stay Safe!

We were lucky enough to have an assembly and a workshop from the NSPCC about how to keep ourselves safe.   See the gallery below to find out more.

Year 6 Restaurants coming soon...

Preparations are underway for opening our restaurants in March.

Mrs Tatham has talked to the children about the challenge ahead and everyone seems ready to take it on!

This week Year 6 have been lucky enough to take part in the Bikeability training scheme. The training teaches the children how to ride their bike safely.

See the gallery below for more photos.

Food technology

We have been lucky enough to make pizzas with Mrs Tatham this half term.
