School Rules

We have been thinking about our school rules and

how we can demonstrate them.

Festive food technology

We have been very lucky this week to work with Mrs Tatham on Zoom to complete some amazing Christmas biscuits. The children showed great independence and resilience.

The finished products were superb!

More photos in the gallery below.

Movement collage in art

This week, we have been trying to show movement through collage. We looked at the work of other artists (see the ballerina below), then we have had a go ourselves.

Fantastic effort and resilience from all the children!

Below are some of the results. Watch this space for more examples.

ExTraffordWinterganza 2020

We had great fun this afternoon singing and dancing at the concert.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the videos of the songs we sang. There are also some photos in the gallery below.

French

In French, we have been learning the names of different clothes. We have been playing lots of games to practise the new vocabulary we have learned.

Gymnastics

The challenge this week was to create letters -

can you work out which letters we've made?

Last week's challenge: We were set a challenge this week to try and make geometric shapes in our groups. See if you can work out what we were trying to create.

There are more photos in the gallery below.

DT - Making the stem

This week, we have been investigating and analysing different materials to make the stem for our flowers.

World War II Museum Opening

This week, year 6 have opened their WWII museum in the Anderson Shelter. They have worked extremely hard with Mr Moulton to link their history and computing learning.

There are more photos in the gallery below.

History - What evacuation was really like.

We looked at photographs and used inference to offer ideas of what was actually going on. Then, we conducted a role play where the children were given evacuee identities and spoke to each other about their experiences:

To finish the activity, they were asked to order themselves with the graded information that they had as to which evacuee had a horrible, difficult evacuation to those who had a wonderful, happy experience:

In maths, we have been playing games to help us understand place value.

DT - Flowers

Our topic this term is flowers. This week, we completed our analysis session and we learnt about the parts of a flower in preparation for the next stage of our learning.

Hunter-gatherer day with Mr Moulton

What a great experience we had during our hunter-gatherer day! We learnt some new skills and enjoyed all of the activities throughout the day.

We made delicious pizzas, built dens, went on a bug hunt and made our own bow and arrows. Have a look at all the photos in the galleries below.

In PE this half term we are working with Total Gymnastics to develop our skills.
