Chinese New Year

Lesson: EYFS

Nursery have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We watched a short video showing a family preparing for and celebrating New Year. We talked about what we had seen and then talked about all the different animals in the Chinese Zodiac. We worked out that we are all horses or sheep!

The home corner was decorated as a Chinese Restaurant and we enjoyed trying to use the chopsticks which was very tricky, taking orders, cooking and pretending to eat the food! We also made Chinese money envelopes coloured in red and gold for good luck and counted out some coins into them, made Chinese dragons using different materials and looked at Chinese books.
