Anti Bullying

We know that thinking that your child is being bullied, or is acting in a bullying way, can be deeply upsetting for parents, and we aim to work with you to both reassure you and solve any issues. It is important to remember that there is a difference between normal childhood falling out and physical actions, and the repeated deliberate nature of bullying.

You can help us. If you are concerned that your child might be being bullied, or suspect their own child may be acting in a bullying way, please contact your child’s teacher, and pass on what has been said, or why you have suspicions, and any names of children that may help us to get to the bottom of things. Please reassure your child that he/she has done the right thing in telling and tell them that if anything else happens, to tell a grown up straight away.

If you think your child has been a target of cyber bullying, please check when messages were sent and keep a copy of any offending messages. Please do not delete the messages unless you have screen shots, as they are really useful in helping us to work out what is happening. Please contact the school and share the details and messages or screenshots with us.

In choosing for your child to attend Flixton Primary School, we would expect you to support the school’s anti-bullying policy and to encourage and help your child to be a positive member of school. It is important to talk to your child about the Four Bs and the importance of being respectful. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and we are all part of that community effort – by working together we have the best possible chance of helping our children grow and become responsible, respectful members of our society.

At Flixton Primary School, we acknowledge that bullying does happen from time to time – indeed, it would unrealistic to claim that it does not. When bullying does occur, everyone should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively in accordance with our anti-bullying policy. We are a TELLING school. This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the staff. All staff are alert to this and regard bullying as a serious breach of our behaviour code. All reports of bullying are taken seriously.

The school has robust and effective measures in place to respond to any allegations of bullying, as detailed in our policy below. The school's Behaviour Lead is Miss Buckley Hall, and if you have any concerns around potential bullying, please contact her via the school office.

In response to parental feedback, we have also produced a flow chart, outlining the way that the school's policy will work in response to an allegation of bullying.
