Dyslexia and Processing

Assessment for Dyslexia

If you feel that your child may have dyslexia, please contact your child's class teacher. They will infor the SENDCo, who will carry out a screener. You will be informed of the result.

If the result indicates a moderare or high possibility of dyslexia, we will do the following to support in school:

  • Start the Nessy programme (Nessy.com). You will be given a login to use at home.
  •  Start the Beat Dyslexia Programme
  • Start the 'Stareway to Spelling' programme (for Year 4, 5 and 6)

Unfortunately, Trafford are not currently carrying out assessments to diagnose dyslexia. If you want a diagnosis, this will have to be saught privately. They are however avaialbe to advise schools.

Colour Veil

If you child has been diagnosed with visual stress, they may need a colour filter, coloujred paper in books. Following the link below allows you to add a filter to your device if your child needs to use a colour filter. This is completely free and may also help with dyslexia.
